Babies bring a lot of change to the lives of their parents. Many of these changes are welcome and exciting but many of these changes are difficult and hard to come to terms with. One of the most difficult changes that come with the arrival of a baby is for men. Women are expected to be engrossed with their beautiful baby because they are nurturers. A lot of women even see this as their primary role in life but men get stuck somewhere in between being engrossed in their new baby's life and trying not to give up their own life at the same time. It is hard to stay masculine and "one of the guys" when you are packing your baby around in a flowered sling, driving a minivan, and carrying, what appears to be, a purse for a diaper bag. Maybe there isn't a lot of help out there for the minivan, but there are definitely some hip, masculine daddy bags.
Most retailers design baby gear with a woman's sense of style in mind. In the past, men were stuck carrying around feminine-looking diaper bags or toting their baby's stuff around in a gym bag or backpack. This is difficult because neither of these bags are designed to be a diaper bag so they don't have all of the convenient amenities. Fortunately, within the last five years a lot of options for style-conscious dads are popping up on the radar. A lot of companies have merged style with functionality to create functional, masculine, hip diaper bags for dads.
Daddy baby bags usually come in three different varieties; messenger bags, converted backpacks, and compact sleeve totes. Messenger bags are a thin, rectangular bag with a long strap and flap that closes the bag. Converted backpacks are just as they sound; a backpack converted into a diaper bag by adding the convenient amenities necessary to carry all those baby items. A compact sleeve tote is similar looking to a soft laptop case with a long strap. It's also similar to a messenger bag but it does not have the flap to close it. It closes with a zipper from one end to the other.
Daddy diaper bags usually come in a variety of fabrics with hip, masculine prints. The most common "guy" fabrics are leather, canvas, and woven polyester (the fabric usually used to make a backpack). The prints are seemingly endless from monograms to skulls and crossbones, and overall prints like a masculine plaid and pinstripes. These bags can be purchased at several different websites, baby boutiques, and major department stores.
Now is the perfect time for men to start taking a very active role in the lives of their babies! Dads are getting involved in everything from baby play to taking care of essential needs. Fathers can be spotted dropping their babies off at day care, playing with their babies at the park and enjoying play-dates with other babies. With the hip, new daddy diaper bags they are sporting, nobody is going to notice the minivan.
