My Top Tips For Dealing With Teething Babies

I hope my experiences with children will help all parents whether new or experienced, with the ups and downs of bringing up a child, and subsequent rewarding challenges which inevitably all parents will face.

My Background

Firstly I will tell you about my background. I am a mother of seven children aged from between 9 and 29 years old. I have also ran nurseries for 25 years, and been heavily involved with the day to running of the rooms, involving caring for babies from 5 weeks up until 5 years. I also have a grandchild, and can honestly say that I have never stopped learning, and no doubt will never stop learning about children and their care. This can be a very stressful time for both babies and parents.

An important thing to realise is that all babies are different and teething will occur at different times. For example some children are born with a tooth, and others do not get their first tooth until one and over. Most will have all their milk teeth (or primary) by the age of two and a half. There are 20 primary teeth of which ten are in the top row and ten at the bottom. The first permanent 'second teeth' come through at the back at approximately the age of six.

How did I notice when my babies were teething?

This wasn't as easy as it sounds. Often they dribbled, and were very miserable and I noticed that nappies were loose, although once my little one had tonsillitis, and I was blaming it on teething. always to be objective and rule out other things before I jumped to teething. A red cheek was a sign, and wanting to chew something always made me aware it could be teething. Waking in the night was often another sign, and being hard to settle another.

Teething tips

My biggest tip is to relax. This is not going to be easy, but take it as it comes. If children need more attention, forget housework, just to minimum. Try and get a break from your child when everything gets too much, and try to catch up on lost sleep as much as possible. Teething gel and teething toys do work but I found there were times I had to give paracetamol, or ibuprofen. I always checked with pharmacist first, before giving it to my baby.

The most important thing about teething is that it will not last, those teeth will come through. Just be patient and remember the calmer and more relaxed you are, the better it is for the baby.

2 Easy Techniques to Soothe Fussy Babies

Some lucky parents get dream babies who just move along through life cooing and smiling. But many of us get babies that are just grumpy! Don't feel discouraged if you have a fussy little one. Like so many things in life, this too shall pass. There are some things you can do to help your cranky little one right away, however.

Swaddling and "Shushing"

A classic method of helping fussy babies is the swaddle. You can swaddle your baby in any manner you prefer; there are different swaddling styles. The most important part of the swaddle is that the baby's arms are held tightly against his side. The legs are not as important and can even be left out of a swaddle as your baby grows, or during hot weather. Find a swaddling style that works for you and stick with it.

When you swaddle your little one you keep her in a familiar situation: the womb was a pretty tight squeeze by the end of your pregnancy! Babies are soothed by having their arms close to their sides.

Don't expect a swaddle alone to calm your child, however. Some babies are calmed as soon as you swaddle them, but many appear to get even more upset while you're wrapping! This is completely normal. Babies have a hard time calming down from getting themselves worked up crying.

Once you swaddle your little one, pick him up and use the "shushing" part of this technique. Your baby is used to hearing a lot of noise because the womb is very noisy. He heard your heart, your blood, your digestive system, etc. This "white noise" was a dull roar at about the level of a vacuum cleaner!

Making a loud "shushing" sound right next to your baby's ear can instantly calm her. It sounds really obnoxious to us, but babies like it. You must do it close to your crying baby because your baby needs to be able to hear it over her own cries. As your baby calms down you can lower the volume. Other white noises can also soothe your baby.

Get Outside

The second technique for soothing a fussy baby is to take a walk. Babies like to be outside. It's almost like they know that our natural environment is out of doors!

Put your baby into a baby carrier and start walking. Our newest baby would stop crying as soon as my husband crossed the threshold with her!

If it's cold out you can still bundle your baby up and go out for a walk. Wear and oversized coat so your baby can fit inside it (riding in his baby carrier). Zip or button so your baby's head is still peeking out. This makes a cozy place for your baby to enjoy the ride.

Your baby is used to the rhythm and movement of your body from months of being in the womb, so walking is very soothing. The fresh air and warm sunlight usually help your baby calm down too.

If your baby fusses even in the carrier, try taking her out and draping her over your forearm. Cup her head gently in your hand with her belly pressed against your arm. This position is really soothing to a lot of fussy babies. It usually does the trick when coupled with taking a stroll outside!

Constipation Can Occur In Babies As Well

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

This condition is usually rarely seen in babies as compared with the adults. Constipation in infants is a condition which is not experienced by those babies who are still being breastfed. The breast milk is easy to digest thus the baby is able to use the all of it. This means that there are no leftovers to be excreted thus the baby will not have bowel movement. This situation comes about when the infant starts consuming solid foods or is fed with food formulas.

It is difficult for the digestive system of the baby to digest any other forms of food such as formulas or milk since they are used to the soft breast milk. This means that when they start consuming these products, they will experience major bowel movements. This should not worry anyone because they will get over it.

For babies almost anything causes these bowel movements but there are other substances which cause a severe one. Iron which is contained in most milk formulas or foods that the baby consumes are the main cause. These include foods such as cheese yogurt and most dairy products.

By feeding the infant with foods that are low in fiber, one is most likely to aggravate the situation because fiber is tough thus when it is consumed the possibility of having a watery stool reduces. By changing the diet, the pain caused by this scenario is reduced.

The parent must make sure that the babies do not avoid going to the toilet to relieve themselves. For example, most of the much older kids might avoid going to the toilet because they fear other kids at school will laugh at them. Another reason is that they may be engrossed in activities such as playing thus will not want to go to the toilet. This in the end will give them bad bowel movements which might result in constipation.

The children that are at the age below four months may be fed with foods like juices that mainly contain apples or grapes. Those who are above this age and are showing the signs of constipation can be given fiber rich meals such as oat, cereals and spinach. This will help contain the situation. There are also other fruits that are rich in fiber which are recommended, for example plums. These juices though are low in required nutrients thus should not be used as the main food.

There are other ways in which the baby can be relieved off the pain due to constipation. The baby can be given a warm bath. The parent should then proceed to do an exercise called bicycle legs to the kid. The tummy massage is also very important for the baby.

The belly of the infant is rubbed gently in a clockwise direction. The massage is started from the navel then move in an outward direction. According to doctors, the warm bath will be helpful because it will make the child relax. The bicycle legs exercise will make the child feel relieved of the gassy feeling inside the stomach.

Let's face it: traveling with infants could get troublesome at times. For this reason, parents often go to great lengths by buying the most expensive baby gear just to ensure their babies' safety. High-quality strollers and infant car seats are always searched for by new parents, even before their babies were born. Fortunately, a new breed of baby safety gear has been introduced in the form of travel systems. A travel system combines the features of both strollers and car seats, presenting itself as a cheaper alternative.

One of the best systems that came out in the market is the Graco Spree Travel System. It offers all of the advantages of common systems. First, it will make parents save money that would have been spent on two products, which are the stroller and the baby car seat. They would even be able to use the money to buy other things for the baby, such as clothing and toys. Second, it is designed not only for infants, but for toddlers, as well. This means that parents do not have to buy a different travel system from time to time, since these are one-size-fits-all travel systems. This also allows parents to save money. Lastly, travel systems are easy to operate. The car seat can easily be unfastened from the stroller, so babies would not be awakened or shaken when being moved from the stroller to the car.

However, the Graco Spree Travel System has other distinguishing features that make it stand out from others of its kind. The brand, for one, makes it stand out. Graco is a widely known baby gear manufacturing company and its customers are always pleased with their purchases. Some people even claim that two to three of their children have used a certain baby product; this is clear evidence that Graco products are very durable and have a long life span. The company reportedly continues to conduct research as a way of enhancing its collection of baby gear, thus making each product perfectly safe for babies and toddlers. Knowing how Graco prioritizes on the quality of its products will inevitably make new parents buy only Graco baby gear and equipment.

Every detail was carefully made to perfection. From its weight to its height and even to its other specifications, the travel system was crafted by the company with infants' and toddlers' safety always in mind. It also features storage compartments in which parents can put the babies' health basics and things of their own, too. When a person learns about the exact specs of the Graco Spree Travel System and how it was wisely made, he will surely run to the nearest Graco store and buy one, if not, two.

These are the ways how the Graco Spree Travel System makes it easier for parents to travel with their babies and toddlers. There is actually more to it than meets the eye and parents will get to enjoy its numerous benefits once they get one for their babies. Without a doubt, this baby gear will soon invade the market, as people will surely flock to Graco stores to buy one.

Don't waste your time searching across several online stores for baby products. This short article reviews two preferred online retailers that stock products for kids of a variety of age groups: The Amazon.com Baby Store and Babies R Us. Each website provides excellent customer service networks coupled with a lot of items to select. Both of them are hassle-free and also easy to navigate. You will definitely find the best suited products for your baby using these reputable online stores.

Amazon.com's Baby Store is a fairly current extension of The Amazon.com Marketplace. It is arguably the best site for baby products, including child car seats, nursery items and a good deal more. The Amazon.com Baby Store is the most innovative company for shopping on the internet with easy to use merchandise sections and dependable distribution systems. The Amazon.com Marketplace was created in '94 and has enhanced to offer products for a number of distinct niche markets. Jeff Bezos was the founder and it was his wisdom and vision setting that made it possible for this popular site to grow to where it is today. You will find all of the main brand names plus some of the most in-depth customer reviews on the web. You are going to definitely find anything you need without difficulty on this leading online store.

Babies R Us is an extension of Toys R Us and provides products for newborns and toddlers. There are several Babies R Us superstores across the United states as well as their website that offers their products around the world. Users are able to view the Babies R Us website conveniently by means of the primary Toys R Us website and features a similar easy to use over-all experience. The majority of poor quality retail sites have a confusing and time-consuming style and design. This means that it can be really difficult to find what you want. The Babies R Us website contains a wide range of products, and the customer service is fantastic.

Amazon.com's Baby Store and Babies R Us have become the most desirable sources for your child. Each site has a wide variety of products as well as outstanding customer service. Both of them are well-designed and easy to navigate. My spouse and I noticed Babies R Us had steeper price levels than Amazon.com's Baby Store. This is likely because Amazon.com's Shop distributes significantly more brands. Amazon.com is also solely on the web, whereas Babies R Us is primarily off-line via regular retail shops. In cases where you can't get specified merchandise on these two particular sites, you could try Mummy's Online Baby Shop or maybe Baby Phat Shop Online. No matter what website you use to purchase products for your baby, make certain that the site has a wide array of items, high quality customer care, and an overall enjoyable user experience.

And finally, if you are interested in discovering some of the best activities for babies, I highly encourage you to check out the helpful review site "Funfilia" found at http://funfilia.com/

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Today's fashion is all about the proper arrangement and wearing of accessories. Not only does this trend apply to adult fashion, baby accessories are on the rise, from cute shoes, bows and hats, babies are becoming more fashionable.

Today, baby hats offer some of the cutest and most practical solutions for keeping children warm and protected. Gone are the common hats of old, lacking in style and variety. Today, wholesale baby products give consumers the choice and style needed to compliment any child or baby's wardrobe. Baby hats no longer have to be drab and strictly functional; they can now be warm and fun for any baby to wear. If you are looking for stylish, functional baby hats, your search has concluded as many retailers and wholesalers both online and physical locations offer these hats at great prices and have something to satisfy the style needs of almost anyone.

Baby hats are now available in the likeness of animal characters, flowers, traditional stocking hats, and sun hats, just to name a few options. Sun hats are designed for both comfort and fashion, but most importantly they protect your baby's head, face, eyes and ears from the sun. Nothing shows love for a child like a baby properly protected from the harsh elements! Also, classic earflap hats have always been practical, but never have they been so stylish.

No longer is the common pastel knit hat the only option available for the modern baby because wholesale products give both the parent and baby the diverse choices needed to stay both stylish and protected from the elements. The use of many textures and different designs, coupled with the broad array of colors currently offered in baby hats, makes them some of the most popular and unique baby accessories available. The most practical and functional baby shower gift is always the right gift, especially if it a stylish accessory.

Unique wholesale hats are fast becoming a popular accessory for many babies. Is there anything cuter than seeing a snuggly, bundled baby wearing a crocheted character or animal hat? Most baby products offered at wholesale pricing can also double as a baby's first Halloween costume, which saves even more money and adds functionality to the hat.

Many baby products found on wholesale are created with the option for personalization or monogramming. Modern day consumers and mothers love the option of personalization to be available for their baby's accessories. Hats and other accessories are easier to lose than normal apparel, especially in a daycare setting, so personalization is key to keeping track of these products. Many baby hats made today offer a distinct area readily available for personalization or monogramming.

Wholesale baby products and accessories are becoming more fashionable by the day. Baby hats offered at wholesale prices offer both parents and children an opportunity to express style without losing any important functionality.

Baby products wholesale, including baby hats on wholesale provide style and functionality to any child's wardrobe.

Toys and Playthings for Your Babies

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Freedom to get moving and eventually to start exploring is more important to babies during this age-period than actual toys. Many of the playthings suggested for younger babies will please this age-group in new ways once they can sit up alone to manipulate them and crawl across the floor to find them. However, a few new things will give your baby particular pleasure because they are especially appropriate to this stage of development.

Once she can crawl, your baby will much enjoy things that roll along. Whether they are actual balls, wheeled toys or household objects such as small cans, she will crawl to get hold of them and soon learn to push them and then give chase. Choose large objects (no marbles, however much she would like them) and check all wheeled toys for sharp or protruding pieces, especially around the axles.

Learning to let go of objects at will is an unexpectedly important passport to new kinds of play. Your baby will enjoy dropping things out of her high chair or stroller. She will learn to throw things, and that can include permitted and shared games with beanbags or foam balls, to balance the forbidden jokes like throwing things out of your shopping cart as fast as you put them in. Above all, she will begin to enjoy putting things into containers and emptying them out again. You can buy pots of safe, interesting objects for this purpose, but small blocks and a shoe box or oranges and a basket are just as good.

As she learns about cause and effect and discovers her own power over objects, your baby may also begin to enjoy simple musical instruments such as a drum, tambourine, maraca and xylophone. Some babies are still alarmed by sudden sounds, but many enjoy the noise such an instrument makes (even if adults do not) and revel in the realization that it was their own actions that produced the sound and that they can produce it again whenever they please. Even if your baby is not an enthusiastic early musician, she need not miss out on joyous sense of power. Offer her some toys which do something when a button is pushed or a lever is pulled, or start her on this particular journey of discovery by finding her a jointed "dancing doll" whose limbs move if she pulls the strong, or a duck that quacks when she pushes it. And whenever she does something with a toy, tell her what she's done and what is happening.

As her linked understanding of speech and of concepts such as "up" and "down" and "full" and "empty" increases, books, and the kinds of talk that go with "reading to" a baby this age, become more and more important. Show her (ask her) where the dog or the daddy is in the picture: pop-up and lift-the-flap books will probably become her favorite. Tell her (and ask her) what the cat or the cow says. Read her some rhymes for their rhythms and jokes. Do some action games that end with a surprise tickle; games that name fingers and toes and noses and ears will help her both to be aware of different parts of her own body and to learn the names of them.

A Fascinating Topic For Your Online Baby Blog - Why Do Babies Cry?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

As soon a baby cries, the natural instinct of the parent is to find a solution as quickly as possible so that he or she can calm down and return to that happy go lucky gurgling little bundle of joy that they have come to adore.

There are several reasons why a baby cries and one of the hardest things to do is to figure out what that reason is in order to fix the problem. There have been many books written on the subject of decoding a baby's cry so that you know instinctively what he or she needs.

Here is a list of some of the possible reasons why a baby cries and the things that can be done in order to remedy the issue. Work your way through each one and you are sure to find the solution.

Baby Is Unwell

The quickest way to find out if your child is unwell is to check his or her temperature. If it is unusually high, then this could be the cause for the discomfort. If your child is throwing up you will want to get in touch with your doctor or the emergencies services, whichever you deem the most appropriate.

Baby Needs Food

Although you may have set up a particular feeding schedule and it is not time for another feed, this could be the reasons for the tears. It is possible that your little one did not take on enough food previously so is still feeling undernourished. The simple solution is to prepare a little food and see if this will stop the crying.

Baby Is Really Tired

When a baby is tired, he or she will often start to cry. This is also the case when a little one is over tired. They are very uncomfortable and do not know how to get themselves in the right frame of mind so that they can drift off. There are plenty of things that a parent can do to help baby fall off to sleep. You can hold the baby in your arms or put them in their pram and gently swing them back and forth. This gentle movement will help to calm them down and lull them off to sleep.

These are just some of the reasons why a baby cries. It shouldn't take you long to go through the process of checking each point until you reach the real reason. Once you do, the solution is often very easy.

May life save your babies with umbilical cord

A baby is one of the most precious gifts of nature, which could have a family. It is the source of ultimate joy for the parents and the rest of the family. Only by, keep your child in the arms, had a true taste of parenthood. Many of us don't even know, while a child is born, nature gives also another valuable gift in the form of umbilical cord blood, which can be a source of joy for the same parents and the child at a later stage in their lives, or for some other parents or persons in any other part of the world.

Primarily, umbilical cord blood contains stem cells, which are very critical in our body. Stem cells are responsible for the production of blood in our body, which contains red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Bone marrow is the only other source of stem cells. These stem cells are associated with stem cells important in diseases. These diseases are usually cell transplantation requires saving these patients, certain cancers, immune system, sickle cell anemia, blood diseases etc., where radiation and chemotherapy destroyed good cells as well as.

Placenta from the mother, the baby will appear after the delivery of a baby's umbilical cord is clamped and cut. Until recently, both as waste were discarded. However, the importance of the two has now been realized. People have the ability to store the umbilical of cord immediately after birth in specialized facilities or immediately donated it to someone else. This umbilical cord can save the life of your own child or that of someone else.

Cord blood is considered a better source of stem cells, because it easier to get, and secondly it provides rare opportunities diseases from the donor. The mother and the child remain intact throughout the process. It is completely risk-free for both parties. Another advantage for the baby itself is that if he suffers certain diseases later in life, there may be an immediate access to that from his own cord blood stem cells, which will be a perfect match for him.

Choosing the Correct Car Seat

Choosing the correct car seat can often be very confusing as not only have you to ensure the correct size car seat for your child but that the car seat that you choose is also a correct fit for your car. Selecting a car seat that scores highly in the many test reports available is all very well but selecting a car seat that fits your car properly is probably the more important feature for your childs safety.

If you are in any doubt about which car seat is the correct fit for your car consult the car seat manufacturers web site as many of the leading manufacturers such as Britax, Maxicosi and Renoluxwill have a Fit Finder guide detailing which of their car seats are most suitable for your model of car.

All child restraints sold in the UK must conform to the United Nations ECE Regulation R44.03 or later version of the standard and must be clearly marked.

Choosing a car seat that is suitable for your childs weight and height.
Group 0+ Infant Carriers

Group 0: for babies upto 10 kgs (22 lbs) approximately from birth to 6-9 months.

Group 0+: for babies upto 13 kg (29lbs) approximately from birth to 12-15 months.

Group 0+ Infant Carriers

This group of car seat can be used in the front or rear of the car but CANNOT be used in the front passenger seat if there is a passenger airbag. It is safer to put them in the rear. Rearward-facing seats provide greater protection for the baby's head, neck and spine than forward-facing seats.

Babies should be in a rearward facing car seat and should not be placed in a forward-facing seat until they weigh at least 9 kgs and can sit up unaided. Babies should be kept in a rearward-facing seat for as long as possible. Once your child is above the maximum weight for a rearward-facing seat or the top of their head is above the top of the seat they should be moved into a forward-facing seat. It is not important if their knees are bent in the seat, provided they are still within the seat's weight range.

Convenience factor with this stage of car seat is that most models will have a carry handle enabling you to easily remove and carry the baby without removing them from the car seat especially handy if the baby is asleep and may also fit onto corresponding pushchair converting it to a travel system.

Group 0+ and 1 Car Seats

Suitable for Babies upto 18kg, Birth to 4 years approximately.

Ideal car seats if you do not have to constantly remove them from car to car or car to home. They are a much larger seat designed to protect your baby from newborn to 4 years approximately. The car seat is used rearward facing when using for a baby up to 9kgs. The car seat can be used forward facing once the baby has reached 9 to 13kg weight. Baby does not have to be forward facing until they are 13 kgs. It is important to check that this style of child car seat is compatible with your vehicle when fitted forward AND rearward facing. You must never leave baby asleep unattended in any car.

Forward-facing child seat

Group 1: for children weighing 9-18 kgs (20-40 lbs) approximately from 9 months - 4 years.

Once a child has outgrown a rearwards facing seat, the best option is to use a Group 1 seat with an integral harness, the large area of the harness helps to reduce the risk of injury if there is a crash. The bottom attachment between the legs will also prevent the child from sliding under, and out of the harness. They can be used in the front or rear of the car but it is safer to put them in the rear especially if there is a passenger airbag in the front. Once again it is safest to keep children in this type of car seat until they have outgrown it.

Only move your child to a booster seat once they have exceeded the maximum weight for the child seat or the top of their head is higher than the top of the seat. If you intend to use this car seat between two cars please ensure that the model of car seat purchased is suitable for both cars. It maybe simpler to purchase two seats each one fitting the car perfectly rather than buying one seat which may not fit either car perfectly as great care is needed to follow the seat belt routings and tighten well. They can also be car specific for correct fitting and not every child seat fits every car.

With this in mind it maybe worth checking out ISOFIX fitting car seats. This is a system that is intended to make fitting child seats quick and simple. All new cars are manufactured with ISOFIX points built into them allowing ISOFIX child seats to be simply plugged into the ISOFIX points in the car. This is a very useful development as many people find it difficult to fit child seats correctly and many surveys have found that a high proportion of the child seats are not fitted securely enough. Most child seats are currently designed to be fitted by using a car's adult lap and diagonal seat belt (or sometimes, just a lap belt). However car seats, seat belts and their anchorages vary dramatically between different models of cars. Car seats have different shapes, some seat belts are much shorter than others, the position of the anchor points differs so some are further forward or have shorter stalks than others. All these factors make it virtually impossible to make a child car seat that fits all cars and sometimes tricky to fit a child car seat correctly.

ISOFIX car seats are designed to solve all these problems. The ultimate aim is that any ISOFIX child car seat you buy will fit your car simply by plugging it into the ISOFIX points. The other benefit of ISOFIX is that it will create a rigid link between the child seat and the car to provide extra solidity. It is important to make sure that any ISOFIX seats that you use in the vehicle are approved for it. It is not yet the case that any ISOFIX seat will fit in every car with ISOFIX points. To fit an ISOFIX seat into some cars you may either to use a top tether kit or an ISOFIX car seat that has a drop down leg to stabilise the car seat to the car floor. Please ensure your car is suitable for whichever seat you choose by consulting the relevant manufacturers web site.

Group 2 Child Car Seats: for children weighing 15-25kgs (33-55lbs) from 4 to 10 years approximately.

If your child is over the 25kgs weight but is below 135cm in height it is recommended that the child remain in the seat. The majority of Stage 2 seats have a height adjustable back to allow you to gradually change the height of the back as your child grows; this also changes the height and angle of the seat belt, keeping it constantly in the optimum safest position. These seats do not have to be fitted to each car and will generally fit all vehicles without too many problems - sports car owners with bucket seats will need to choose a seat with a small base.

Group 1 & 2 Child Car Seats:

Suitable for children weighing 9-36kgs (20-80lbs) from 9 months to 12 years approximately or up to 135cms.

There is now a greater choice of car seats in this range than ever before. The car seat will include a child harness to be used up to 15-18kgs then the harness can be removed and the child seat can then use the adult car seat belt with most of these seats having an adjuster or seat belt guide so that the belt does not rub on the childs neck. The back rest of these seats will be height adjustable with some even having width adjustment as well.

Group 3 Child Car Seats:

Usually Suitable for children of 22kgs (48lbs) or 6 years upwards.

This child seat raises the height of the child so they can use the adult seat belt in the correct position.

WARNING:

No child seat is escape proof as harness systems are not designed to be completely child proof in order to comply with the legal requirements of ECE R44. The harness must be fastened and adjusted correctly with children encouraged to sit within the car seats harness.

If child seat has been involved in an accident or sustained any damage whatsoever it must be replaced immediately. Any damage to the car seat is not always visible such as the harness which is designed to stretch helping to prevent damage to the childs internal organs. This can only happen once with any further impact leaving the harness with no more stretch thus risking injury to the child.

This is why you should never use a second hand car seat.

If you allow your child to eat and drink in the car seat please ensure that you keep the buckle of the childs car seat clean as any food or drink that finds its way in may prevent the buckle and harness from working properly.
