Graco Prams Are A Great Choice For Safety And Comfort

As all parents or childminders know, if you are out and about with your baby, the things that matter most are the safety and comfort of the child. If you are looking for a suitable pram or buggy, then you need to look no further than Graco prams. Not only do they completely cater for safety and comfort, but they are also very convenient to use.

Graco was founded in 1942, but for the first eleven years of its life the company actually manufactured machine and car parts. Then after one of the founding partners left, the remaining partner decided to branch into his own range of products. From there, Graco went on to become a global brand that have been in existence for almost sixty years.

The Graco Travel System was the very first product that incorporated a car seat into a buggy. This innovative feature allows parents to transfer or move the baby from car to buggy without any disturbance of the sleeping child. The safety regulations regarding car seats are quite strict, and all Graco products fully comply with (and usually exceed) these regulations.

Graco have a range of products for varying ages of toddlers, all with different designs and varieties. These models include the Graco Alano stroller, the MetroLite LE stroller, as well as the wide range of prams, buggies, strollers, and travel systems such as the Graco Symbio.

Looking at the structure of Graco prams, all the wheels are all fitted with rubber tyres. These are solid rubber tyres, so they will never need pumping, and help to ensure a smooth ride regardless of the terrain. The body of the prams is mostly aluminium. Because of this they are relatively light to carry or lift across various locations. This also makes them quite resistant to any scratches and damage

Probably the undermining feature of Graco prams is comfort, both for the parents and the toddlers. Adjustable seats are incorporated into most strollers, so the seats can be adjusted to look in different directions, either backwards or forwards. The height can also be adjusted to suit the parent's convenience. Canopies are included as standard for most models to protect the babies from the elements when necessary.

Storage features are also incorporated into all Graco prams. Generally speaking, the storage space in the baskets provided is considered to be very large, ample to hold all the basic necessities along with suitable emergency items.

Even if your family has twins or more than one baby, there is no need for a second stroller. Graco include a range of duo strollers such as the Graco Duo Glider, perfect for use when there is more than one child. These also incorporate reversible seats, as well as huge storage facilities.

For more great information visit Graco Prams. Here you can find full reviews and buyer guides such as Graco Symbio review, Graco Duo Stroller, helping you to make informed decisions to find the best deals from online suppliers.

A Newborn Baby Carrier Should Provide Safety, Security, and Snuggles

You have a new bundle of joy in your life -- and now you're ready to get out and explore the world with your new baby. Or at least take a walk around the block. A newborn baby carrier is a great solution for new parents because you can go out for a walk, take a shopping trip, or even just get some housework done while your baby is with you. A good baby carrier provides your baby with safety, security, and lots of opportunity to snuggle with you.

When you're shopping for the perfect carrier be sure you consider safety carefully. There are many "baby packs" on the market and not all of them are a good idea. Avoid any baby carrier that leaves your newborn's legs dangling down. Many of the popular models found in stores have this design. The problem with dangling legs is the unnatural pressure it puts on your baby's developing legs and hips. This can spell big problems for your baby now and down the road as he or she begins walking.

Instead shop for a newborn baby carrier that holds your little one in a gently cradled position, or one that lets you cross your baby's legs under his or her bottom. When your child is a few months he or she won't care for the crossed leg position, but at first babies don't mind this. When this position is outgrow a carrier should support your baby's bottom and thighs - your little one will literally be sitting on her bottom in the carrier, not dangling by her crotch area. Baby slings, baby wraps, and some "pack" carriers like the Ergobaby carrier line properly support your baby. For a newborn baby carrier I recommend you choose a wrap. It will adapt with your baby's age and preferences.

Be sure you keep fabric out of your baby's face when riding in any carrier.

Your child also needs to feel secure while riding on you. Many people wear their babies facing out, thinking babies like to see the world. But this is often unsettling to infants, especially newborns. Face your little one in, so that you are chest to chest. This keeps baby happy and secure while riding with you. As your baby grows you can pick a carrier that allows your baby to ride on your back. This gives baby the chance to look around at everything that's going on while still being pulled in close to your body and feeling secure.

Your newborn wants to be snuggled close. This is another reason why a wrap carrier is ideal. Your baby sits right against your body, cuddled within a soft carrier. Babies really like being balled up in there! If your baby protests when you first put him in the carrier don't give up. Instead, take a walk! Many little ones grumble initially and then settle down as soon as they feel the rhythm of a brisk walk. It reminds them of being snuggled in the womb. Again, remember to keep your baby's face clear so he can breathe. While your child is on you it's second nature to check on him, but just as a reminder you should frequently peek in at your baby to be assured that he's not too hot or too cold, and hasn't slipped too far into the fabric.

With a little shopping you can find the perfect newborn baby carrier. Choose one that supports your baby's bone development, helps your baby feel secure, and keeps your newborn snuggled closely to your protective body. It will quickly become your baby's favorite place to be!

By the way, do you want to get more practical baby care information that will give you keys to a smarter, happier baby while building a strong bond with your little one?

Child Safety In Cars

If you are a new parent, or have a child who is changing age groups, there may be some questions about what the safest way for them to ride in the car is. Children are very vulnerable and need to be seated securely and safely in any and all types of moving vehicles.

For infants, you want to have thin in a rear facing car seat when riding in the car. Their seat needs to be in the back seat not in the front. If they are in the front and something happens and the air bag deploys, the child can be badly injured. Children need to be in a rear-facing car safety seat until they are about two years old or have reached the highest weight or height as allowed by their safety seat. Once they are two years old, they can then sit in a forward-facing car safety seat. These come with harnesses. Toddlers and preschoolers should stay in these types of safety seats for as long as possible until they reach the maximum height and weight allowed for that car seat.

For school-aged children who no longer meet the requirements for a forward-facing car safety seat, they need to sit in a belt-positioning booster seat. This will help them sit comfortably with a seat belt until they are old enough to use the seat belt without a booster seat. When they are old enough or large enough to no longer sit in a booster seat, they should always use the lap and shoulder belt. Children under the age of 13 should always be sitting in the back seat and should be properly buckled in for optimum safety.

Safety around and in cars is just as important as being safely secured in the back seat. You should never leave a child in a hot car, it can result in heatstroke. Children and adults react differently to temperatures, so even if it feels OK to you, it can be fatal for your child. The same also goes for pets. You cannot leave your child in a locked car that is turned off even if you are just going to "run in and run out." Thinking that by even just running in or out will be OK can result in your child having a heat stroke. Also, don't allow your children to play in or around your car. If they somehow get trapped in the car, again, the result can be fatal. A car left in outside with no air conditioning or wind flow can instantly be at least 20 degrees warmer than it normally would be.

child safety in a car is very important, and should be taken very seriously. Children should never be standing in a moving vehicle, and should always be seated in the correct safety seats, and buckled in properly. Be sure to teach your kids how to be safe in a car and what to do in case of an emergency.

If your baby will soon make the transaction to moving on his or her own, it's time to consider safety gates. In fact around the time your baby is starting to sit up is the ideal time to go shopping for baby gates and by the time your little one is crawling, it's too late!

When I had my first child, everything was so new to me and I literally was learning on my feet from day to day. By the time your child is making robbing movements which is the precursor to actually crawling, you realize you have to take a look around your home with a view to your child's safety when s/he starts crawling everywhere.

Stairs are the immediate danger that most homes have so it's important to keep them off limits to your child. There are many baby gates on the market to choose from. Check around with friends and family who have children. They can give you good advice regarding which product they choose and the advantage and disadvantages. Not only will you learn a lot but you may even be gifted with used safety gates. When children are old enough to navigate stairs and there are no other children planned, then baby gates are usually not needed anymore. Although they are great for keeping your dog off limits too! Not to mention if an inquisitive toddler is coming over to visit.

Basically these gates can be classified into pressure mounted ones and hardware mounted gates. Obviously the pressure mounted ones are great as you don't have to put any holes in walls or banisters. No brainer that these are the most common. These gates can be economical and they are also portable which is a good feature if you know you will be regularly visiting friends and family whose homes are not baby-proof.

The hardware mounted gates are attached to the door frame or wall with screws. They are becoming more popular and they are very sturdy and cannot be pushed open. Of course you will have hole marks in your wall or door frame but when you eventually remove the gates, a bit of putty in the holes will do the trick and next time you paint, these holes will be covered.

Another feature to check is whether you child can use the gates in any way to climb up or whether she can hurt herself by putting her feet/arms through the bars. Some gates are built with mesh for this reason.

With research, check with friends and family and at the store as well as online, you can definitely find great safety gates for stairs for your purposes.

This company is based in the United Kingdom and has been manufacturing safety items for children for over 20 years. They have won awards for their safety gates.

If you have a baby at home, then congratulations to a wonderful future with your child. Although babies look cute when they lie in their cribs, soon that little bundle of joy will start moving. When he or she starts to sit up, is a good time to consider putting safety gates in your home. Very soon your baby will start crawling and after that using chairs, tables, anything in the home to help get upright in preparation for the first steps. As you will experience with crawling, the first unsure attempts are slow but very soon your baby will be a super fast crawler seeking adventure in all aspects of your home.

Definitely before the crawling stage these gates should be installed to protect your baby from accidents. Typically if you have stairs, these present a problem. Installing safety gates is the answer.
If you do your research, you will find many brands on the market and hopefully you can choose the ones best suited for you.

The above mentioned safety gates come in several different sizes and designs. Some are made of wood and some of metal. There is even one made of mesh which is a good alternative to stabs as children cannot get their feet stuck and they also cannot climb this.

Make sure the ones with stabs - whether wood or metal - are spaced not too far apart so that your child can get stuck. The Easy Fit model has a Plus and a Tall version which is great when you know that your child will be more than average height.

Some models come with two-way opening and an extra wide walk through section. This will come in really handy when you have your child in one hand and toys, laundry, cooking utensils or the hundred and one things you need to do in the other hand.

This company has gates that must be fixed to the wall with screws to the wall as models that use pressure to fit them - much like you can get with closet bars and bars to hold up your shower curtain.

Naturally they also have extenders which are very useful if the gate itself is only good for one position. Choose your safety gate after doing research and talking to shopkeepers who can advise you. Brands like this one come with a solid reputation and guarantees.

Why Stairs Are Dangerous and Why a Safety Gate Is Essential

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Why are stairs so dangerous?

When children are small their centre of balance is such that their heads are the heavy part! As they start to learn to walk they have to learn to balance and because of the head their centre of balance is higher up than in an adult. This means they're more likely to lean backwards and fall over. Whilst this is a normal part of the learning to walk process on flat ground it's ok - children learn to fall and being small they don't have far to go.

On a flight of stairs though there's a huge potential for disaster here if a child falls, they're not just falling a few inches to the ground, but potentially all the way to the bottom of the stairs. This is a terrifying thought and so it should be! A large percentage of ambulance call outs for small children are related to them falling and the injuries relating to this.

Protecting your child from this obvious danger should be something every parent wants to do.
Of course if you regularly visit family members then you might want to persuade them to get a stair gate fitted too for your peace of mind.

You really only have to turn your back for a second on a toddler for them to be away. Avoid accidents by taking this simple and affordable step to making your home safer for your child.

Some parents have a safety gate fitted on to the kitchen door too and this is one way of keeping young children out of the kitchen and away from all the harm in there!
You can let your children in to do cooking with you when you're relaxed and not under any pressure, otherwise try to keep them out of the danger zone of hot oven doors and pans of boiling water to reach up and tip over.

You should have a stair gate at the bottom and the top of the stairs. At the top it should be more securely fixed on so look for a screw fitting type rather than the pressure type. These normally don't have a bar across the bottom making the bottom section of a U shape. You need to reduce trip hazards at the top of the stairs for the adults too!

A stairgate at the top means your child can't get downstairs on their own, so it is useful once they can get out of their cot or bed on their own. If you let them play upstairs then it's essential to have a stair gate to stop them crawling down the stairs.

As your child gets older, is more confident on stairs and has been taught then they shouldn't play on the stair case then you can remove the stair gate. The gates are normally suited for up to 2 years old. Some people leave them longer even though their child can open the gate themselves. Sometimes the gate works by just being there rather than being something they can't get over.

You should regularly check your child safety gate is still fitted securely on a regular basis. Make it part of your daily routine and check it more if your child is climbing over it.

Discourage your child from climbing over the gate. Explain to them it's there to stop them hurting themselves on the stairs and that they should not play on the staircase.

Stairgates are essential for child safety in the home

Preparing for Baby: Home Safety Tips for Baby's Healthy Start

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Preparing for a baby is so exciting! But while you wait for that moment when labor begins, there are so many details to get your home ready. Some essential home safety tips are obvious, some are usually overlooked.

Home Safety Tips for a Healthy Baby

Sleeping Safety: Make sure the bed is safe. The mattress needs to be firm and fit the crib tightly. Although we love all the cute cuddly toys, pillows, bumper pads, comforters and the like they aren't safe for a new baby. The baby can get trapped in the folds and be unable to breathe.

Diapering Safety: You'll be amazed by how fast a tiny baby can roll away. It can take just a second as you reach for something. If you use a changing table make sure it has straps, and use them.

Bath Time Safety: Serious accidents happen in bathtubs. A special baby bathtub that offers baby support and a no-slip bottom is the best plan. If you plan to bathe your baby in your own tub, use a rubber mat. When she is big enough to sit up, you can use a baby bath chair. Be sure to set your water heater no higher than 120 degrees F and look for special tub spouts that prevent hot water burns. Also, keep everything you need in easy reach.

Fire Safety: Smoke detectors are a must. Keep them in working order and check them monthly. Also, have a fire extinguisher on hand. Make a plan for rescue and escape, if a fire does break out.

Carbon Monoxide Safety: If you use gas or oil heat or have an attached garage, be sure to install carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in your home. Check the batteries twice a year.

Paint Safety for Baby's Room: If you're in an older home attend to paint that's flaking or peeling in your baby's room. Have a professional remove or seal it. There may be dangerous lead in the paint. If you wish to freshly paint your baby's room be aware of the chemicals that fresh paint can release into the air. Have someone (other than the expectant mom) paint your baby's room at least a few weeks prior to your baby's arrival and make sure to thoroughly ventilate the room, so the air quality is safe.

New Carpeting: New carpets are great, but they can out-gas for at least a month. As with fresh paint, if you plan to lay new carpet in your baby's room, do it in time for the out-gassing phase to be over by the time baby comes home. Also, be sure to use non-slip pads under any area rugs you use in the room.

EMF Exposure Safety

Avoiding exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) is unavoidable. EMFs are generated from your home electrical grid and all wireless devices, like cell phones, cordless phones, Wi-Fi and baby monitors. Babies and little children are especially sensitive and since EMFs are linked to many childhood health problems, you need to use EMF protection in your home safety plan as you're preparing for your baby. There are a number of products on the market for this. Look for a company that has a good history, guarantee and well-informed customer service.

Preparing for a baby can be a lot of fun. Follow these few home safety tips and then relax and anticipate the joyful arrival of your new baby.

Baby Walker Safety - Tips You Should Know

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Baby walkers have come a long way in terms of safety. But no matter how you look at it, putting a baby in a device that gives them added mobility is going to increase the level of risk involved. If you are considering buying a new baby walker, then here are a few things we think you should consider.

Safety Proof Your Home

This may seem like a no brainer, but every year accidents happen that could have been completely avoided. The first thing you should do is to barricade all of your stair wells. There are several ways to do this, but the best is probably to purchase a sturdy gate that is designed for the purpose.

While stairs are the obvious concern, there are many other hazards that sometimes can get overlooked. Sharp edges on tables, chairs, shelves etc. can post a risk to your baby. A lot of times the added height of the walker puts their heads in the right position to make contact with something they otherwise would not.

Hanging baskets, lines for curtains and anything hanging from the ceiling that may have been previously out of reach for your baby may now be easily accessible. It is best to do a thorough check of the house for things like these before putting your baby in a walker.

Of course you should always keep a close eye on your baby whenever he or she is using the walker to avoid any potential hazards you may have missed!

Purchase New

While it may be tempting to purchase a used baby walker and save a few dollars we would highly recommend against it. First of all, every year new safety measures are being implemented. Problems that were previously not addressed are fixed and a brand new walker is the only way to ensure that your baby is as safe as possible.

Secondly, a used walker could have structural damage that is impossible to see with a naked eye inspection. You never know what sort of abuse a product has suffered in the hands of someone else. Dropping a walker on the driveway while loading it into a car is enough to affect the structural damage and could put your baby at risk.

Do Not Over Use

While there is no doubt that your baby will enjoy the increased mobility that a baby walker offers, many doctors are now recommending that you do not allow your baby to use one for longer periods.

The reason for this is that prolonged use of a baby walker can cause developmental delays in normal walking. While there are some who still debate this, many recent studies have shown an increasingly likely correlation.

Finally - Use Common Sense

I know that the last thing you would want to do is put your baby at risk. Properly used, a baby walker is an excellent way to stimulate your baby's growth and will provide excellent entertainment for both of you.

Make sure you use basic common sense when it comes to how and when to use a baby walker and you will have nothing to worry about!

Car Booster Seat Safety For Kids

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Car booster seat safety is a prime concern for parents, especially when taking children on the road. It is no longer enough that you buy a child safety seat without even considering road policies and important precautions. Statistics reveal that road accidents are one of the recognized causes of severe injuries and even death for children and you, being a responsible parent, have the right to all important road and safety information.

Safety seats for children are required to increase protection for kids. Nowadays, children and kids over a year old are more prone to traveling with parents. Road trips, weekend getaways and vacations are part of every family's itinerary that you have to know how to be safer. Accessories including seat belts do help but with the increasing number of auto crashes per year, safety seat and booster seat options for consumers are becoming more popular as standards for road safety.

Car seats are normally equipped with seat belts, which are primarily designed to fit an adult's body. Basically, for kids, the fit would have to be different. The car booster seats for children are made and designed to answer such fitting and size variations. With a baby or toddler seat, your child will now be sitting comfortably and will be able to use the shoulder belts in your car, appropriately.

Studies show that while not all road and vehicular accidents translate to death, the likelihood of sustaining certain injuries, due to improper safety features becomes more apparent. In addition, corresponding liver or spleen damage, cracked ribs, as well as other disturbing injuries are more likely to be sustained. One's incapacity to provide for a toddler or booster seat may also result to certain head, neck or spinal injuries, which are all life threatening. These considerations, once studied, can be prevented, if only you have the right tools and have readily followed regulations well.

The implementation of car safety policies is currently recognized in many countries. In the United States, for example, states including California, Rhode Island and Washington are now implementing and following enacted laws. Today, children under age six are now required to use car booster seats or child safety seats.

Road worthiness need not only mean maintaining your car for safety. Prevention, as always, is crucial in uplifting and supporting child safety. Lapses in judgment are often the culprit, since many adults think that traveling short distances may not require the use of corresponding toddler seats. Keep in mind though that you, as a guardian or parent, take full responsibility when it comes to children. What you do now has an effect on them, regardless of how small or big such act would be.

Make things easier for you and your family by simply following enacted laws and thinking primarily of kids concerns. Never hesitate to pay a few more dollars just to have the right toddler or baby seat for your children. Travel safely and do not use short-distanced trips as an excuse to not equip your vehicle with car booster seats.

We hope you share our concerns for your child's safety and we encourage all responsible parents to select a car booster seat or a child safety seat, suited to your child's appropriate needs. To assist in this process you can find out more about the right safety seats at carboosterseatstore.com where CHILD SAFETY IS OUR PASSION.
